Learn to Sew - A Summer Top

This workshop is for absolute beginners who want to learn to sew and venture into garment making. The Sunny Side Tank is an easy to wear summer staple with a cropped length, relaxed A-line shape and beautifully finished details. The cropped length can easily be lengthened to suit you :)
The pattern is designed for quick, enjoyable sewing and it's a super speedy make! There are already four of these in my wardrobe as I was lucky enough to be on the pattern testing team before its launch. The Sunny Side Pattern is size inclusive and runs from a XXS (31" bust) - 6XL (64" bust).
During the workshop, you'll learn how to take accurate body measurements, decide on sizing and sew a simple summer top with bias binding finishes on the neckline and armholes. The workshop covers essential techniques that can be applied to other garments and you will leave with a gorgeous summer top and the skills and confidence to continue making at home.
By the end of the class, you will be able to:
- Use a sewing machine
- Take and use accurate body measurements
- Read and follow a sewing pattern
- Cut and sew woven fabric confidently
- Apply bias binding
- Hem using a facing
- Finish seams neatly
- Trouble shoot common sewing problems

What to Bring
- Your sewing machine, in good working order (unless borrowing one)
- Approx 1 - 1.5m of woven cotton fabric (details will be sent upon booking)
- Matching bias binding (details will be sent)

Accessibility
This workshop will be held in at my countryside home in my quiet, light and spacious studio/ kitchen in Langford Budville, Wellington. There is plenty of parking on my driveway or in a small carpark opposite. There are a few steps up to the front door, I'm happy to help carrying your machine if needed.
My two small dogs will be home, after a noisy welcome they will return to their favourite pastime of snoozing! They can be shut away at request.
Cancellations
Life happens, if you need to cancel please let me know at least 7 days in advance, if you can, and you'll receive a full refund. Cancellations made 3–6 days before will receive a 50% refund or a 75% refund if I can fill your place. Unfortunately, cancellations within 48 hours can’t be refunded.
If you are unable to make it and would like to transfer your spot to a friend please let me know in advance.
If we ever need to cancel a workshop due to low participant uptake, illness or venue issues, you’ll receive a full refund or the option to join a future class.
